Our experience shows that many small businesses and organisations find their external payroll
obligations onerous and it is in this area where they may first need support. Too often
we find that problems surface at the end of a financial year when time is of the essence
and there are limited resources available to rectify problems.

We suggest you use the following checklist to assess your payroll systems;
- Do your records clearly show for each employee the terms of engagement?
- Is each payroll transaction clearly recorded and able to be summarised?
- Are wages figures reported on time to the Australian Taxation Office?
- Is tax withheld from employee wages remitted correctly and on time?
- Are superannuation obligations corretly paid on time?
- Are employee leave entitlements accurately recorded and summarised?
- Are award obligations being observed?
- Are fringe (and if applicable exempt) benefits being recorded?
- Are any Fringe Benefit Taxes reported and paid if required?
